about

“Portico Quartet stake claims to territory occupied by Radiohead, Cinematic Orchestra and Efterklang”. ***** The Guardian
Mercury Prize-nominated Portico Quartet announce Bandcamop exclusive EP.
Recorded direct to vinyl at Metropolis Studios in London and released as a strictly limited edition of just 400 copies. Clear vinyl and artwork by Duncan Bellamy for Veil projects.
Sending out echoes of jazz, electronica, ambient music and minimalism, Portico Quartet have created their own singular, cinematic sound over the course of five studio albums, from the band’s 2007 breakthrough ‘Knee-Deep in the North Sea’, and the John Leckie produced ‘Isla’ in 2010, to the self-titled recording ‘Portico Quartet’ in 2012, Art In The Age Of Automation in August 2017 and their most recent album Memory Streams released last October on Gondwana Records.
On November 30th Portico Quartet assembled at the legendary Metropolis Studios in West London. In front of a small audience they recorded two tracks direct to vinyl. Mixed live by Liam Nolan and mastered live to vinyl by legendary engineer John Davis the results are astounding offering a fresh insight to the band’s music.
The two tracks are Trajectory (a mash-up of two PQ favourites Line and Rubidium) and a live version of the powerful Signals in the Dusk from Memory Streams.
Released on clear vinyl with a strictly limited edition of 400 copies. And exclusively available from Bandcamp.
